Yeah Nah Yeah Pins
Kickstarter Campaign 2021
In August of 2021 I ran a crowdfunding campaign to re-manufacture a set of soft enamel pins that I had designed. The original Green and Gold Yeah Nah/Nah Yeah pins were designed and manufactured in 2017. They were rather popular and were sold at a Brisbane pub as well as online and at in-person events.
For the crowdfunding campaign, the idea was to get enough money to re-manufacture the original Aussie colors and create interest in new colors and a new spider themed Aussie-slang design. The new colors would then be shown to color coordinate with different moods and outfits.
Aside from advice from friends about stretch goals, copy editing, some labor, and costs, most of the work was done by myself. I wrote the copy for the Story of the campaign, the copy for the different pledge levels, and the updates that were emailed to kickstarter backers. I designed the header and created 100+ images that were used throughout the campaign.
The $700aud goal was reached within an hour and a half on the first day and after 30 days the campaign raised over $4900aud. After the initial campaign, backers were then pointed to backerkit to choose their pin colors, any add-ons such as additional pins or stickers (some of which were not offered in the campaign), and to finish up with shipping details.
I liaised with an overseas manufacturer to get the pins created. A vector template was created for the manufacturer that had design specifications and pantone colors. To go along with the pins I created backing cards so backers weren't sent their items in plastic bags.
After the pins finally arrived 170 orders were sorted and shipped to different parts of the world. I used compostable and biodegradable packaging to send off the pins. On top of filling out customs forms I also designed a return label to go on the packaging.
At the end of it all the campaign took about 6 months from planning to sending the last pin.
